Prompt:
Explore personal artistic voice. Conceptualized the overall view of the world of the play. What big ideas in contemporary society bother you? Might they relate to the situations or problems within the play?
Concept Statement:
A mothership (serving as Naples) is coasting outside a blackhole (serving as the sea), whose characteristics are like a kaleidoscope. Like a kaleidoscope, the further you are pulled into darkness, the more color you will see. The void is filled with colorful, geometric, chaos which leads to a mythical star (serving as the island), where trash and lost objects are found.
The star (serving as the island) is vibrant in color in comparison to the mothership (serving as Naples), whose populations tendencies of a throw-away society has polluted the distant star. Trash becomes treasure on this star, as its inhabitants use the objects found as materials to create garments to protect them from the elements of the star.
